I'm a little late posting on this one, but here are some photos from our little princess on Halloween. Ann Maxwell loved her poofy pink princess dress (and sometimes her crown). She was able to wear it several times between trying it on, church fall festival, trick-or-treating, etc. She seemed to really love having it on. When we set out trick-or-treating we left a bowl of candy by our door since we wouldn't be there to receive anyone. Ann Maxwell was fascinated to watch children run up to her house and pick up candy from her front porch! She enjoyed handing it out to people and wasn't eager to leave. But leave we did eventually... We went around our cul-de-sac to our sweet neighbors' houses. Ann Maxwell managed to get out a few "trick-or-treats," but mainly she didn't want to talk to anyone but the other children running around. She also was obsessed with everyone's different pumpkins. She inspected every pumpkin at each house we went to. After making the rounds on our street we walked over to the Moodys' to see how they were doing. This sparked and impromptu joint family outing as we took Ann Maxwell, Harrison the fireman, and Grayson the newborn pup out to more houses. Again, Ann Maxwell had no interest in saying trick-or-treat or even in getting candy. She just wanted to look in people's houses, talk to children, and study pumpkins. After a short time we were all ready to head home. When we got home Ann Maxwell ran up the driveway to the bowl of candy we had left. She of course found it empty. This seemed to trouble her greatly, and she called me over to show me this great travesty. She was so concerned about the other kids not getting any candy from her house. She picked up the bowl, carried it to me at the door, and said, "More candy, Mama! More candy!" Of course we filled that bowl right back up and handed out some candy right away. After a while we set the bowl out again and turned in for the night. At this point in the evening most of the younger kids had left the scene. I must admit I had a little fun playing some pranks on the older kids who were a little "too old" to be out scamming candy. My side kitchen window overlooks the porch where we set out the candy bowl. When older kids came by and greedily grabbed lots to candy to fill up their bags, I hit the window. They couldn't see me in the dark house and didn't know where the noise was coming from. They re-thought their need for emptying out my bowl and took off! I may be bad, but it was fun! My philosophy is if you can drive or shave, don't come to my house looking for candy! Anyway, after a few passes at the window, we brought in the bowl for the night and put the princess to bed... But not before she discovered a new love for suckers! Yes, my pink princess is now obsessed with them! She asks for suckers at least twice a day, but she also asks for broccoli for breakfast, so I'm not too worried about that sweet tooth! I hope you had a great Halloween, too! Our best to all out there...
